Consultation (parent, family, clinician)

A focused conversation — for parents who want a plan, families weighing next steps, or clinicians who want another set of eyes on a case.

All services

Not everyone who contacts us is looking to begin therapy. Consultation is short and targeted — a single meeting or a handful — aimed at a specific question: is this something to worry about, what level of care is warranted, what should we do first.

Parents often come to us with a child who is eating less, avoiding more, or losing weight, and want to know what to do before the situation hardens. We review what is happening, explain what the research supports, and leave you with concrete next steps — which may or may not involve treatment here.

For clinicians, consultation means case-level input: diagnostic questions, treatment planning, deciding when a case needs a higher level of care, and applying a manualised treatment when the person in front of you does not look like the manual.

What this helps with

  • Choosing a level of care
  • Second opinions
  • Treatment planning
  • Coordinating with schools and treatment teams
  • Supporting a family member in recovery

What we bring to it

  • Evidence-based assessment of eating, anxiety, and mood concerns
  • Family Based Treatment (FBT) guidance for parents
  • Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT-E) case planning
  • Supportive Parenting of Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)
  • Judgements about medical risk and level of care
